This is a required blog for my Surface Research class taught at VCU Art Foundation's Bowe St. parking deck by the lovely and intimidating Valerie Molnar. This blog will contain paintings, sculptures, installations, videos, and photographs (by various artists) that I find beautiful, interesting, and inspirational.

I'm hoping to experiment in this style with oils soon. (Unfortunately, due to poor ventilation, students are unable to use oil paints at the Bowe Street deck, so I'll have to experiment in my Project: Painting class.)
Here's to the crazy ones...
"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? We make tools for these kinds of people. While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." -Think Different, an Apple Campaign

I've been a fan of this guy for a while. He has this quote on his website that means a lot to me, so imma share it wit cha:
"By letting go of what I am, I become what I might be
By releasing what I have, I shall find what I need.
When I feel empty and destroyed, I am about to grow.
By yielding, I shall endure"
By releasing what I have, I shall find what I need.
When I feel empty and destroyed, I am about to grow.
By yielding, I shall endure"
